Here I am trying to track as many birds as possible.

We want to beat the county that shall not be named.

Go to the App Store, download eBird again,

round up my binoculars, look for

the tell-tale signs:

mulberry splotches on the pavement

bushes rustling.

So what if I’m a novice?

Early birds may get the worm, but

in the world of birding,

the excitement of the search extends past

morning, into afternoon, evening, and sometimes night (if you’re lucky…Whooo, Whooo).
